BOOKS - Notices From Methodist Newspapers 1830-1890, 10 Vols (births, marriage, deaths)
By: Donald A. McKenzie.
Due to a new agreement between the author and Global, volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are now back
in print. Global has now published all 10 volumes in the same format. Available as a set,
or volumes can be acquired individually. The alphabetical format (by surname) of the
content of these volumes will enable you to quickly find any of your ancestors whose vital
events (birth, marriage, death) were reported in the Methodist newspapers from 1830 to
1890. Some volumes contain vital events records for people of faiths other than Methodist,
and from places other than Ontario ( vast majority of events are Ontario based). Mr
McKenzie's detailed and informative introduction to this work provides the reader with
all the necessary information to understand and use the material.

BOOK - Finding Your Canadian Ancestors: A Beginner's Guide.
By: Sherry Irvine and Dave Obee.
Canadas size and diversity also influence its records, which are similarly varied and at
times complex. In Finding Your Canadian Ancestors, authors Sherry Irvine and Dave Obee
guide you through Canadian genealogical records, first by record type and then according
to province. The authors detail both government and ecclesiastical records as well as
records related to special groups such as Aboriginals, Acadians, and Loyalists. They give
special attention to online resources, including the extensive holdings of Library and
Archives Canada.

BOOK - The Mapmakers' Legacy, Nineteenth Century Nova Scotia Through Maps.
By: Joan Dawson.
This book shows how early maps of Nova Scotia reflect the provinces establishment under
first French, then English colonial rule. The book looks at Nova Scotias continuing
development in the nineteenth century, first as a British colony then as a member of
Confederation, as reflected in the many different types of maps made for various purposes
during the century. This is a unique and captivating account of Nova Scotian cartographic
history.

BOOK - Tecumseh's Bones, A historical mystery about the deception behind the death,
burial, and legacy of the great Shawnee chief, Tecumseh.
By Guy St-Denis.
Chief Tecumseh's death at the Battle of the Thames marked a turning point in the
Anglo-American War of 1812. It was also the beginning of a mystery: the mutilation of
Native corpses thwarted American attempts to identify Tecumseh's remains, giving rise
to the belief that his body had been secretly recovered by his warriors. Tecumseh's
Bones teases fact from fiction in the myths and legends surrounding the great chief's
burial. Drawing on a wealth of archival material, most of which has never been published,
Tecumseh's Bones will fascinate history buffs, historians, and mystery lovers.

BOOK - A Wampum Denied: Procter's War of 1812.
By Sandy Antal.
Existing acccounts depict the Anglo-Native alliance in War of 1812 as one of convenience
against a common enemy. The author's goal in this military study was to reveal the
alliance as driven by something more tangible - a politically agreed objective to
establish a Native homeland south of the Great lakes. This promise by military leaders was
endorsed by the British government. Based largely on primary sources this book examines
the strategies and personalities as well as the naval and land engagements. Also revealed
are the massacres, propoganda and legacy of the conflict.
