My Zorn's came to SC from Strassburg Germany (Now Strasbourg,
France) in the
first German-Swiss immigration in 1735. My first ancestor in America was
Nicholas. Nicholas died in 1741. Nicholas and Catherina's children were
Magdaline, Catherina, Susannah, Nicholas, Jr. and Henry. Nicholas, Jr.
and Henry received land grants by King George III on Pon Pon River (Indian
name for South Edisto River meaning "Big Bends") in 1773 and 1774. From
these brothers descended all bearing the Zorn name now residing in Bamberg
County. I am looking for George Zorn in SC
Do you have a date for George? My records show a George Washington Zorn
(1846), married to Mary Ann Lee, son of Nicholas Zorn (1809-1870) and
(believed) Sarah Condry. This Nicholas was son of Henry Zorn Jr (Son of
Henry, Son of Nicholas and Catherina). George Washington had a son born
1877 named George Austin (married Sarah Adeline Hartzog). He in turn had a
son, George Harvey (1907) Also found a George Harmon Zorn (Henry, David,
Nicholas) born about 1878 married Lula Tucker. Any of these sound like
anyone you know?
My line is:
Nicholas & Catherina _______
Henry & Elizabeth ______
Henry Jr. & Ann Sobieski (Sobeski)
Johnson Hagood & Rebecca Lucy Grimes
William Elijah & Nora Hardwick
Florence Marion & George Hope
The latter were my grandparents. Do any of these people sound familiar?
I have a couple of fairly complete family trees on these lines that I was
given by Harold Zorn of Charleston and William Zorn of Jesup GA about 10
years ago. I'll be happy to look up anyone if you think they are out of
this line (or you have no idea :^). Please give me an approximate date
though. This is all hard copy so wading through it gets to be a chore
without dates to guide me :^).
