Hmmm. I've never seen the connection between Zorn and Zornes before. Zorns I
have seen.
Is Zornes a German name, it almost seems Dutch? Or Swiss? I did find a
reference once on a Swiss site for some sort of coat of arms collection for Zorn
My Particular branch of Zorn is from Germany to the Storm Lake, Iowa around
1900 or so. There is sort of a double link to Miller (also spelled Muller,
with the umlaut or Moller) when A Zorn male married a Miller Girl, and the Zorn
male' s sister married The Miller Girls brother. And came to America with other
realitives of both families togther to be Farmers
There is also a cluster or Zorn (no relationship I can trace) that apparently
started out in Pre revolutionary war in north and South Carolina, So across
some area of the South the name appears. And apparently My name, and initial
combination (William H.) was quite popular during and after the civil war.
There is a naming sceame for the eldest son in my family, the intails
aternate between WHZ and HWZ, this goes back, documented to my great grandfather, and
we have been told it predates coming to america, but have never found any
documentation before my g-grandfather to verify this
There is also A Zorn Texas, from yet another bunch that settled in the New
Braunfelds area. Zorn Texas is apparently a ghost town now, I did find a site
for it on a "things to do on the weekend" article from some Texas newspaper. You
Might Google it and see.
