Birkenfeld Germany to Scranton Pa to Brooklyn NY
In my search for my Zorn's I was unable to find my G. Grandfather Fred
Zorn, until I was able to locate his death certificate. I was lucky
that my Grandmother had Fred Zorns citizenship paperwork (dated
10-14-1876). I also had a small fireman certificate from the Scranton
PA dated Dec 18, 1868.
In German's to America I had found 3 Fred Zorns that came to the US
before Dec 18, 1868. Many years ago in talking with my grandparents I
remimber a story about my GG-father who came to the US as a young man
with his mother. Only 1 German's to American Fred Zorn fit that story.
I was able to match up the German's to America with the Fred's death
certificate, with this information I found Fred's birthdate, and his
father's and mother's full names.
With that information I went to LDS site (family Search Internet), I was
able to match up other children.
But my major discovery came when I put out a request as to where
Birkenfeld was in Germany. I found a book listing 100 + years of Zorns,
and their family.
Check out my web page for detailed info on my Zorns. Do not give up.
