Zopf'ers,
Well, unfortunately I do not know much about my Zopf family yet. I am a
descendant of John Zopf who was born in Bavaria; he settled in Kankakee, IL
which is where most of this family still lives. There is one part of the
line that moved to San Francisco in the early 1900's. The family name is
usually spelled as Zopf but some of the family has changed it to Zoph. I do
not know the relationship between my family & David's family from Quincy, IL.

Hi,
My name is David Zopf I am the list owner for the ZOPF mailing list.
When I created this list I was hoping to make contact with other
researchers of the ZOPF surname. Knowing full well that there probably
weren't many. But here it is only a couple of months after the creation
of the list and there are already four of us. Well... it's a start.
Let me try to get the ball rolling here by telling you a little bit
about myself.
I grew up in Quincy, Illinois. I am now living near Boston. My family,
in fact all my United States direct descendants, lived and died in or
near Quincy. At least the ones that I have been able to find. But since
ZOPF is a fairly uncommon name I figure that most of the ZOPF's in the
U.S. are probably related somehow.
My family tree contains hundreds of ZOPF connections mainly due to an
industrious cousin that gave me my start. My immigrant ancestor came to
this country from Bavaria sometime between 1820 and 1839. I am unable to
locate the ships list or immigration records at this time. His name is
Heinrich ZOPF. He came with his wife Katharina SIEBERT and their two
sons, Adam and Henry and one daughter Friedrica.
Enough about me. Let's hear something from the rest of you.
Oh. By the way I am happy to share.
Regards,
Dave
