Tom,
I found your ZOPFF site very interesting. I am trying to figure out the
connection between ZOPF and ZOPFF. I have a family crest that I have
discovered but I don't know how or if it fits in to my family name. It is
different from yours.
I have taken it from "Die Wappen burgerlicher Geschlechter Deutschlands und
der Schweiz". Roughly translated I think it means "The coats of arms of
burgerlicher sexes Germany and Switzerland" (I think I am reading
burgerlicher wrong.)
Inside there is a description of the coat of arms. Along with a picture.
Which I can forward to anyone who wants.
Zopf (Zopfin), Magdalena, 1671 zu Aibling. - W.: Ein Phonix mit offnem
Fluge, aus Flammen steigend. - K.: Der Phonix zwischen zwei Buffelhornern
F. u.
Roughly translated
Zopf (Zopfin), Magdalena, 1671 to Aibling. - W.: A Phonix with offnem
flight, from flames rising - K.: The Phonix between two Buffelhornern F. u.
Have you come across this coat of arms or know anything about the ZOPF name?
Dave
