Hello, I am interested in any info that might be out there about James H. & Virginia
Zollicoffer Wilson. I have that he was born in 1828 and died in 1890 (that found in the
Brentwood, Tennessee library). He was the son of James Hazard Wilson II who married his
cousin Emeline Wilson. James III married Virginia Zollicoffer, daughter of Felix Kirk
Zollicoffer and Louisa Pocahontas Gordon, in 1858 at the home of Felix Zollicoffer. James
II gave them the plantation Harpeth (now known as Inglehame) as a wedding gift.
James and Virginia lived on the plantation in Williamson County for several years but
after the war things were hard and moved to Davidson County in about 1873. They are both
buried at the Old Nashville City Cemetery in what is called Zollicoffer Square.
From census records and an online source I have that James and Virginia had 10 kids, but
in 1900 Virginia states that she only had 9 kids. One son is referred to as James H.
Wilson Jr. in 1870. Then in 1880 there is a child about a year older than James Jr. would
have been that is referred to as Lanny Wilson. I am wondering if Lanny and James Jr. could
be the same person.
I have the dates from Virginia's tombstone at the Old City Cemetery but not those of
James. I was wondering if anyone had been there and might have those dates. Also I would
gladly pay someone for photos that they might have of the graves in Zollicoffer Square.
Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. I am not a direct descendant
of this family or the Zollicoffer or Wilson families. One of my cousins Anna Lindsey was
Virginia Zollicoffer's great-grandmother. I am also a Civil War buff and research the
Felix Kirk Zollicoffer family due to that.
