Happened to talk to Leslie (Cohen) jrecently and she mentioned the Zobel discussions with
Eryc, who I corresponded briefly with some years back. My mother was Marjorie Cohen,
whose mother was Martha Zobel. I know a lot of the genealogical history of thee family,
and could relate more if anyone is interested. As to the Harts, the 1860 NY Census
records list the Hart family, two of which came to the SF Bay Area, as far as I know,
Henry and Rose (Rosa), the latter of whom, according to the Zobel booklet from 1941, met
and married my great grandfather, Jacob Zobel after a whirlwind courtship and returned
with him to SF in 1870, just after the transcontinental RR was built. He had come to SF
via Panama in 1860, one year after arriving with his family from Koschmin (now Kozmin),
(now Poland) the previous year. If the Harts listed in the NY census are the right Harts,
and I believe that to be the case, the father was a lumber merchant then and had come over
from Prussia some ti!
me before. I have the Zobel family tree photo, etc., and have been to Kozmin.
