I am looking for information on William Edward Zinn, born May 11, 1852 in York county
Pennsylvania to Jacob and Sarah LARUE Zinn. Jacob Zinn’s parents were Nicholas and Mary
SHAFER Zinn.
William Edward Zinn married Susan L. Wilson on 15 January 1879 at Adair, McDonough
County, Illinois. She was born in December of 1860 in Illinois to Shedric and Mary Jane
Eperson Wilson.
The 1890 Federal Census for Illinois, McDonough county, mounds twp, lists three children:
Lewis L. Zinn, 9 yrs; Harry W. Zinn, 6 yrs. Alfred E. Zinn, 4 yrs. Yes, this was one of
the few remaining remnants of the 1890 census!
The 1900 Federal Census for Illinois, McDonough county, mounds twp, lists three
children: Harry W. Zinn, son, born Oct 1883, 16 yrs old and born in Illinois; Albert E.
Zinn, son, born October 1885, 14 yrs old and born in Illinois; Anna M. Zinn, daughter,
born May 1994, 6 yrs old and born in Illinois. Also, it lists 4 children born and 4
children living. Apparently, at this point, there were four living children.
Denver Colorado Probate court records of his brother, Solomon Zinn, give his address on 13
September 1915 as 626 Washington Street, Macomb, IL, which is in McDonough County,
Illinois. However, I cannot locate him in the 1910 or 1920 Federal Census. In 1915, he had
five living brothers (George Washington Zinn, Jacob Franklin Zinn, John Andrew Zinn, Adam
Seri Zinn and Isaac S. Zinn) and two sisters (Mary Ann Zinn and Sarah ZINN Van Meter)
living. I have quite a bit of information on all the brothers and sisters with the
exception of George Washington Zinn. The same probate records list an address for him as
being in of Hamburg, Iowa in 1915. Need information on him also!!!!
There were two more brothers that died in the early 1900’s.
1. Amos Zinn, born April 8, 1849 and died October 28, 1905.
2. Alfred Zinn, born September 8, 1862 and died March 23, 1903.
Both brothers are listed in 1880 Federal Census of Illinois, McDonough county, mounds twp.
The listing is under “Jacob Zim”.
I have no further information on the two above brothers.
My grandfather was Isaac Zinn. Thanks for your assistance.
