In the book "Now and Long Ago" by Glenn D. Lough - 1969 page 56-57 is the
following: "Samuel Eckerlin, late of Augusta County, in 1750 owned land on
Dunker Bottom, on New River; sold to Garrett Zinn. ... Garrett Zinn, in
order not to be murdered by the Indians, moved to Carolina, where he died
intestate, leaving Valentine Zinn, his oldest son and heir, who sold
...Samuel Eckerlin, eldest brother and heir-at-law of Emanuel Eckerlin,
deceased, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to William Davis of Philadelphia
City, 60 lbs., 125 acres on New River, part of 900 acres patented to Garrett
Zinn, June 20, 1753, and by him conveyed to Emanuel, January 15, 1754;
corner of John Miller, opposite a small island ..." This entry is composed
of excerpts from Augusta County, VA records. Could it be that Garrett and
Gerhart Zinn are the same person? Did Gerhart have a son Valentine?
