Death of Grandmother Peterson
Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Blaylock, near Geneseo, at 2 o'clock on
the morning of Thursday, February 22nd, 1906, of heart failure. Mrs. Nancy Peterson, aged
73 years and 18 days. Nancy Zinn was born in Jackson County, Ohio, on the 4th day of
February, 1833. She moved to Illinois in 1849. On the 12th day of December, 1850, she
was married to Charles Peterson. To this union was born ten children, four daughters ans
six sons, all of whom with the exception of one daughter, who died in infancy, are living
and were present at the funeral. In May, 1874, they moved to Kansas and settled on a farm
near Ellenwood. About a year later they moved to Rice County settling on a farm near
Bushton, where they resided until the death of Mr. Peterson, some years ago. Mrs.
Peterson was converted in the M. E. church in 1879 and continued a faithful Christian to
the day of her death. The funeral was conducted by Rev. E. J. Williams, at the M. E.
church in Bushton, at 3!
o'cock p.m., Friday, February 23rd and the remains were interred in the Bushton
cemetery, by the side of her husband. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and
friends followed the remains to their final resting place.
The surviving children, all of who were present at the funeral, are: John Peterson,
Geneseo; Samuel and Chas. Peterson, of Pond Creek, Oklahoma; Mrs Ella Kuntz, Lyons; Mrs.
Lydia Korf, Bushton; Mrs. Mary Blaylock, Geneseo; Bert Peterson, Lyons; J. H. Peterson,
Frederick; J. F. Peterson, Bushton.
