Dear "Sjhmackey,"
I am thrilled to hear from someone so closely related. Mattie was Sarah
Rebecca Zinn's sister. (Sarah was my gr-grandmother.) Somewhere I have a
picture of the two of them together, taken when they were pretty young women.
I obtained a copy of the picture, along with some photos of other members of
the family, from the Shasta County Historical Society in Redding, CA. There
is a placque honoring John L. Zinn as a pioneer of early Shasta County in the
historical society's museum.
Do you live in California? If so, you may already know of the Zinn
artifacts, (pictures and a short bio), located there. I'm going out of town
for two days, but when I return I'll have my husband scan the picture and
send it to you if you don't already have a copy.
I was very interested to see the name Creswell in your family tree, because
John L. died in Zena, Oklahoma in 1909 while he was visiting Henry B. Zinn.
Henry B. was married to Martha whose maiden name was Creswell. Was Martha
related to the Creswells in your family? Do you know how Henry B. was
related to John L.?
I'm anxious to share more information (when I can find the time!)
Love,
Bev
