Hi Marshall: THanks so much for your reply to my query. I agree with you that there
certainly seems to be a connection....I have sent to see if there is any probate on Jacob
Zinn - which would certainly help to clarify the matter. I have to tell you, the big gaps
in the births of Jacob and Catherina's children leaves me thinking we do not know of
all of the children of that union.Just look at this:
1. Jacob Zinn, born 25 Nov 1749, PA
2. George Zinn, born ca 1751, PA
3. Peter Zinn, b ca 1763, PA
4. Moses Zinn, b 13 Oct 1766, PA
5. Susannah, born 20 Aug 1770
6. female Zinn, born ca 1772, PA
7. female Zinn, born ca 1774, PA
Now, while I would consider it possible that the gap between #1 and #2 children, there is
too large of a gap between #2 and #3. Also, while it is possible for Catherine to have
still been having children at age 47, I betting it is pretty unlikely. It all suggests to
me that there was more than one Zinn ......I suspect that in fact the John Jacob Zinn
baptism that you mention as being of Jacob and Catherarine Zinn in 1756 must be a son John
to Jacob and Catharina. It would seem strange to me that they would be just baptising
Jacob (b 1749) when they also have a son George by 1756. I would think they would have
also baptised George at the same time if a local minister was not available nearer to the
birth of Jacob (b 1749). I am also trying to get the records for Muddy Creek Church,
hoping that it may shed more light on Jacob Sr and kids since Jacob is buried there.
The Houser connection is from Susannah Zinn (dau of Jacob Zinn and Catherina), born 20 Aug
1770, married Jacob Houser.
I have noticed in glancing at ther records of Muddy Creek burials there are several Zinns
(early ones) that I have no idea how they place into the family. Seems like it bears more
looking at.
