I am sorry to say that I have not pursued this as much as I had hoped. I know that there
is a Ragland book out there. I do believe that it may have the information that you are
looking for. The following will of Sarah Ragland is definately Martha's family. I
see an Elizabeth Cox listed but I do not know if that is Elizabeth Catherine Zinn. I do
believe that Sarah Ragland (wife of Jacob A. Zinn) was the child of John Ragland but I
have not done research on her siblings.
Will of SARAH RAGLAND

STATE OF GEORGIA
HENRY COUNTY
In the name of God, Amen; I Sarah Ragland of the State and County aforesaid, being of
sound mind and diposing memory,but knowing from the common cause of nature, the remaining
years of my life must be few, and owning as my own right and property the several items
hereafter mentioned, do dispose of the same, to take effect after my death, in manner
follwing, that is to say:
Item 1st: In as much as I have heretofore given by deed to my son, Thomas Ragland, a negro
girl named Mary, I consider that gift as much as he is entitled to out of my estate. He is
therefore to have nothing more out of my estate.
Item 2nd: I loan to my daughter, Sarah Morris, wife of Benjamin Morris, a negro girl named
Jane, about 14 years old. The title of which negro I transfer to my son, Lemuel Ragland,
as trustee, for the use of said Sarah Morris during her natureal life, and after her
death, my will is that said negro Jane and her increase become property of and vest in the
child or children of Sarah Morris, if she has any living, if not, then to be divided
equally amongst my other children and heirs.
Item 3rd: I also give to Lemuel Ragland the sum of $40.00, by him to be expended for the
use and benefit of said Sarah Morris, in such manner as he shall think most to her
benefit: and also, my riding gig, to be sold by him for the use and benefit of the said
Sarah Morris above mentioned.
Item 4th: I give and bequeath to my son, Lemuel Ragland, a negro man named Dick, about
fifty years old, and also a negro girl by the name of Lucy, about 17 years old, and a mule
commonly called Jack, two cows and calves, such as may choose out of my stock: One blue
chest, and a walnut table, one side board, blacksmith tools, 2 ovens, 2 pots, my entire
flock of fowls, one pair of andirons, and one-half of such crop as may be made on the
plantation where I now live during my life.
Item 5th: My will is that the remainder of my property of all kinds, not heretofore
mentioned, be sold and the proceeds equally divided between my children, to wit: Frederick
W. Ragland, John Ragland, Burwell Ragland, Elizabeth Cox, MARTHA ANN ZINN, Charity Brown,
and Nancy Foster's children to wit, the part I intended for their mother.
Item 6th: And lastly, I hereby nominate my son, Lemuel Ragland, and Andrew Brown, my
executors, to execute this my last will and testament, whereby I have hereunto set my hand
and seal in the presence of witnesses, this the 13th day of July in the year of our Lord,
1847.
