Hi ! Bev;
Just wondering if that book is about an actual county or of the Ritchie
family connection.
Dave.
Hi ! Joan;
Thanks for taking the list over.
I don't have too much information on my Zinn connections but I find a
surprise that you have a Christian Zinn from Pennsylvania as I do.

Good Morning Joan!
I receive the Zinn mailings and am thrilled! So happy to finally be able
to meet other Zinn descendants.
I do have a question. Since the time I first posted to the Zinn message
board using this excite address, I have become involved in some other things
and the mail coming to this account gets heavy sometimes.
I would like to be able to switch the Zinn mailing list subscription to
my hotmail account where I have other genealogy lists, as well as lower
volume of mail. Can you do this or is there something I need to do to
effect this change?
I would like to switch FROM catrel(a)excite.com
TO: khoward0723(a)hotmail.com
Thank you so much. I am on my way out the door now for medical appts, but
hopefully will be back early enough tonight and will get an introduction to
the list!

Good Morning,
I have George ZINN and Mary Ann SAYLOR who had John ZINN who married
Ruth GANDY. John and Ruth had John Wesley ZINN who married Eliza
HASKINS. Their daughter Mary Ellen ZINN is my great grandmother. Mary
Ellen was born in Virginia about 1847 and married Winfield Taylor COX.
Am willing to share what I have and will be glad to meet some new
cousins.
Any connections?
Ruth
This is a terrific new list!
I am Barb Keryan in Greer, SC. I am descended from George and Mary Ann
Saylor Zinn thru their son William, his son Samuel, my great grandfather
Morgan Milroy Zinn, my grandmother Carrie Ethel Zinn Bulvony, and then
my dad John Andrew Bulvony.
Puzzles that haunt me is the actual date of Morgan's death. I just have
the year. Also my grandmother's sister Anna Zinn remains rather
elusive. She had another sister Stella Adahs that I know much more
about.
I am looking forward to seeing more bios and hope we help each other,
Barb in SC

Sandy-
I don't know if this may be any sort of clue for you or not--it may mean
nothing BUT my great-great-grandparents, Conrad Myers and Maria ZINN, had two
sons who moved to Iowa in the late 1800s. One moved to Tipton and one to
Independence, Iowa. There seems to have been a migration from York and Adams
County, PA area to this part of Iowa in the late 1800s. I don't know what
brought them out there but if the Myers headed for those parts their Zinn
cousins may well have done so also.
You may want to have a look at census indexes for York and Adams Counties if
you find any clue at all that your Zinns could have come from PA.

Hi, Kim-
I have changed your list subscription over to your hotmail address.
For the general information of everyone on the list -- you can contact me
anytime you need help with subbing or unsubbing or list administration
details be writing to: ZINN-admin(a)rootsweb.com That should be easier than
trying to remember a personal email address and it will always work!

Hi Sandy,
I don't have any information for you, just more questions! But I'm trying to
find information on a Zinn relative named Henry B. ZINN, married to Martha
Creswell, who moved to the area of Zena, Oklahoma from Missouri. I have
wondered if he was one of the Zinns who moved to Ohio. My gr-gr-grandfather,
John Lafayette ZINN, went to visit Henry B. in OK, took sick, and died there
in 1909.
The book...History of Ritchie County by Minnie Kendall Lowther...has a lot of
information about the Zinns, but as with any family history there is a
tendency for error to creep in. Page 229 of the book says that George Zinn,
his wife Mary Ann Saylor, and her brother, all emigrated from Germany, but
another source says she was born in the USA. George and Mary Ann did have a
son named William, but William was a popular name then as now.
At this point I have no documentation for any of my Zinn ancestry past my
gr-gr-grandfather, John Lafayette Zinn, who was born c. 1825 in Preston
County (W)V, but I'm working on it. We'll just have to keep digging for
those elusive answers.
Good luck, Sandy.
Love, Bev
Hello, Joan and all Zinn Cousins,
My name is Beverly Manners Uhren, and as far as I can tell at this point, I
am descended from George ZINN (born c. 1742 in Hesse, Starkenburg, Darnstadt,
Germany) and Mary Ann SAYLOR, who moved from Pennsylvania to Hagerstown,
Maryland, to (W) Virginia), through their son John and his wife Ruth GANDY,
through their son George and his wife Sarah GRAY, through their son John
Lafayette ZINN and his first wife Mary Ann FORESTER.
John L. moved from WV to Missouri to the Redding area of Shasta County
California. My gr-grandmother was Sarah Rebecca Zinn CLEMENTS, (a daughter
of John L. Zinn who married Gabriel Gyp Clements in Missouri), and my
grandmother was Anna Maude Clements MANNERS. My father Michael was the
second surviving son of Maude and her first husband Mathias Peter MANNERS.
I married Gerald John UHREN in Sacramento, CA in 1951. We have five
children, fifteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and we still live
in Sacramento.
Zinn descendants seem to be as numerous as stars in the sky, so I'll really
be surprised to find any who come from my line...but then hope springs
eternal! So I'll be waiting to hear from any and all Zinn cousins.
Love, Bev
hi Joan
my name is Sandy Zinn {huseman} I have been trying to find a link between
the Zinn's in Dubuque, Iowa for sometime now. there has to be some
relatives to us from somewhere. the line stops with my
great-greatgrandfather William Zinn June 1, 1845 -Nov. 28 1900 If you
know of his parents or any relatives please let me know
Sandy Huseman
Hi, everyone-
I guess it is about time that I introduced myself to the list. My name is
Joan Young and I am the list admin for the ZINN mailing list. This list
started out as an "adoptable list" with very few members. I was the RootsWeb
staff member assigned to care for this list until adopted. Since my
great-great-grandmother was a ZINN I decided to permanently adopt the list
myself.
I had thought I would wait until we picked up a few more members to say "Hi"
and finally over the course of the last several weeks we began seeing those
new members subscribing. We now have a total of 28 researchers on the list.
Not a large list yet by any standards, but most definitely sufficient to
begin discussion of our ZINN ancestors.
As you learned earlier today the ZINN GenConnect Boards are now gatewayed
with this list and messages posted to it will be copied here. The gateway
only works one-way. If you have a reply to make to a gatewayed message
please visit the board to post your reply. It will then be copied back to the
list through the gateway.
We really don't have many formal rules on this list other than to treat each
other with respect and have fun. We are here to attempt to share information
and learn about our Zinn ancestors.
I will start things off. My ZINN ancestor is my paternal
great-great-grandmother, Maria ZINN.
Name: Maria ZINN
Birth: 25 MAR 1833 in Adams County, PA
Death: 7 JUL 1913
Father: Christian ZINN b: ABT. 1806 in McSherrystown, Adams Co., PA
Mother: Lucy ARNOLD b: ABT. 1817 in PA
Marriage Conrad MYERS b: 23 JUN 1830 in Adams County, PA
Married: ABT. 1851
More details about this line can be found in my Gedcom on file with
