I noticed the Mailing list for the surname Zink / Zinck and thought I
would pass on a possible place of origin in Europe that might prove
helpful for those searching their ancestors homeplace.
To explain, a few years back I found the ancestral home of my ancestor
Nicholas HERTZOG and his wife MARIA ELISABETHA ZINCK. I was very
suprised at their origin as I thought for sure that they would have
been from Germany, but thery were from an area in France just across
the border from Germany that many Germans settled in the 1600's.
Anyway, there is a large posterity in the area of Bas-Rhin, France of
the surname of ZINCK, so perhaps you may want to check this area out.
Hans Heinrich ZINCK, 1682-1770
