ZANESVILLE: Gerald Clark Ross, 87, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away at 9:10 a.m., January
29, 2012 at Willow Haven Care Center.
Gerald was born in Cannelville, Ohio (adjacent to Roseville, Ohio) August 24, 1924 the son
of the late Chester and Mary (Zink) Ross.
He grew up in Cannelville where he attended the Cannelville school and he played baseball
for the Cannelville baseball team.
He was the owner and operator of his own business doing brick, block and concrete work; he
enjoyed all of his customers and became friends with them. Gerald was also a member of the
Cattleman Association and loved working on his farm and raising polled herford cattle. He
raised beagle dogs for field trials.
Gerald is survived by two sons, Roger (Jenni) Ross of Austin, TX, and Jerald
"Jerry" (Janet) Ross of OR; seven grandchildren, Greg, Stephen, Roger Jr.,
Robyn, Ryan, Remi and Shelly; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Marilou (John) Loomis
of Crooksville, Ohio, Freda Pennybaker of Zanesville, Ohio, Barbara Wickham of South
Zanesville, OH; his brothers, Loren "Fred" (Anillee) Ross of Roseville, Ohio,
Delbert (Kathryn) Ross of Roseville, Ohio and John Ross of Roseville; a sister in law,
Myrna Ross of Blue Rock, Ohio; many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Gerald is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ross; Bernice
Ross Studer the mother of his children; his step children, Sherri Brock and Gary Miller;
his sisters, Ruth Genevieve Zellar and Esther Crawmer; a brother, Orrin Ross; and four
brothers-in-law, Jay Zellar, Jack Crawmer, Jack Pennybaker and Roger Wickham.
Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 31st at the Farus Funeral
Home, Duncan Falls and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, where funeral services will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
