James J. Zink, O.C.D.S., 85, of Erie, passed away at Village at Lutheran Square Wednesday
morning March 10, 2010. Born in Olean, N.Y. March 23, 1924 he was a son of the late Walter
and Marcella Zink. James served in the Army in Europe during World War II and became a
draftsman at Penelec, retiring over 20 years ago. He was a longtime member of Blessed
Sacrament Church and the Secular Order of the Carmelites; his name in Carmel is Joseph the
Worker and Provider. Jim served faithfully as Treasurer of the Carmelites for many years
and was also a lector for the group's Sunday Masses with Msgr. Robert Goodill. James
was preceded in death by his wife, Helen T. Strike Zink, in 1978.
Surviving are his sons, Mark J. and Richard G. Zink, both of Erie; PA,
two brothers, Robert Zink, wife Linda, of Tonawanda, and Raymond Zink, wife Pat, of
Eggertsville, N.Y.; a sister, Betty Imfield, of Hamilton, Ohio,
and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours at Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th at Greengarden, on Friday 2 to
4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services there Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian at
Blessed Sacrament Church at 11 a.m. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the Carmelite
Monastery, 510 East Gore Road, Erie, 16504 or Village at Lutheran Square, 149 West 22nd,
