P. S. back in the 1970's a man who was on board the same ship as my
husband, and with whom I was only a friend, saved my life.
I was caught in the undertow on a beach in Jacksonville, Fl. & Dave Rohr
saved me.
I have no idea if we were ever connected genealogically but we sure were
connected that day!

Hello,
I was wondering if these Zimmermanns sounded familiar to anyone. My ggg
grandmother was Maria Elizabetha Zimmermann. She was born February 22, 1799.
Her husband was Heinrich Paul Noe (b. October 10, 1791, d. May 23, 1837). I
don't know where Maria was born but Heinrich died in Webenheim, Pfalz,
Germany. They were also married in Webenheim. The Noe family were Huguenots
and moved from the Alsace Lorraine area of France to the Mittelbach and
Zweibrücken area of Germany. Maria emigrated to Wisconsin in 1843 with her 2
children.
Maria is buried in a very little cemetery in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. In
that same cemetery, and over a little from Maria, are the graves of Nicholas
and Catherine Zimmermann. Nicholas' vitals are February 23, 1788, to April
14, 1874, and Catherine is Jan. 1 1801 to August 11, 1861. I don't know
anything else about them but I'm wondering if Nicholas could be Maria's
brother. They are the only Zimmermanns in the cemetery and the dates they
were all born is pretty close to each other. I've written for their death
certificates but no one has any record for them.
So I'm wondering if any of these names sound familiar to anyone. Either in
Wisconsin or in Germany. Or if anyone else thinks that they might be related
like I'm thinking. And if anyone has any hints or suggestions, I would
really really appreciate it! :)
Thanks, Paula
In Germany and France: NOE, GERHARDT, ZIMMERMANN, STOCK
In Switzerland: ROHR
