Donald Zimmerman
Robinson
Donald "Don" Zimmerman, 77, of Robinson, quietly left this life to be with our
Lord, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.
Don was born July 24, 1930, in Kennedy
to Daniel and Mary Zimmerman
and in 1958 married Florence Jean Koger,
who predeceased him in 1995.
Don retired from Tri-State Printing Co. in 1996 after a 44-year career and was a combat
infantry officer who served his country proudly as a second lieutenant on the front lines
of the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean
Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the UN Service Ribbon, and he twice
refused the Purple Heart in honor of his more-seriously wounded comrades.
Don was a devoted husband and father.
He cherished time with his family
and friends and in later years enjoyed traveling,
including his fond trips to Florida as well as abroad.
He loved attending local concerts,
dance recitals, Little League games
and simply sitting on his back porch.
This humble man will be missed by his ever-grateful brothers and sisters in Christ.
Brother of Orville "Bud," Clair and the late Daniel Zimmerman.
Also survived by loving children and spouses Donald Paul Zimmerman and Ellen, of
Bentonville, Ark.;
Carol Jean Schweitzer ,
and Philip, of Hudson, Wis.; David Matthew Zimmerman
and Helen, of Indiana, Pa.,
and Sharon Lea Zlamal
and Charles, of Fuquay Varina, N.C. "Pappy" had grandchildren who adored him:
Mary Florence, David Matthew II and Grace Helen Zimmerman
and Abigail Florence
and Sarah Elizabeth Zlamal.
Also survived by loving and dear friend Sarah Prunczik,
many brothers- and sisters-in-law
and nieces and nephews
and a long list of dear friends.
