Vicki,
Do you have an exact death date? Have you found the family in any
census? Have you found a death record, checked county records, read
the local papers for that time period? Do you have a birth year?
Sons were often named after the father of one of the parents. Possible
father or relative of Maria:

1870-1960?
My heart jumped when I saw a Maria Zimmerman until I saw the 1953
date. I
have an unaccounted for Maria Zimmerman who died 1850 in Almond,
Allegany Co.
NY with no parents, birth date, or siblings. She married a Peter
William
Makeley August 4, 1846 and bore him three sons. The first two
didn't survive to
age 3 but the third one lived while she died. This was Levan
Zimmerman
Makeley who was my gggrandfather. Peter remarried, but I have
never been able to
find any info on Maria who was called Polly. I can't even find her
burial.
How sad and tragic is that to be forgotten so soon after death.
Peter
married within three months to a Sarah Clarinda Hadsell who had a
baby of her own
less than three weeks after the wedding. My guess is he wanted a
wet nurse
for his son.
Does any of this sound familiar to any of you Zimmerman researchers
out
there? Vicki> mailto:daisysroots@yahoo.com
