Message originally posted to the Cimmerman board:
I have recently discovered that one of my GGGrandmothers had a maiden name of Cimmerman
(?). It was listed on one of her son's death certificate. The family immigrated from
Germany in June 1880, settling in Hartford, CT. The family unit was as follows at
immigration:
FA - August BRINK, 40
MO - Auguste BRINK, 40
SON - Ernst BRINK, 19
DAU - Amelia BRINK, 16
SON - Wilhem BRINK, 9
SON - August BRINK, 8
SON - Rudolph BRINK, 6
SON - Fritz BRINK, 4
Ernst, later went by Ernest, died in 1907. It is his death record that first listed his
mother's maiden name. Souce of the information on the death certificate was his wife,
Minnie UNKNOWN Brink. I am using caution with this information because I have found this
to be a very unusual name, whereas Zimmerman is much more common. I am keeping my options
open till I obtain futher documentation to support the Cimmerman spelling. If any of this
information sounds like we could be searching the same family roots please get in touch
with me.
