No. There appears to be no connection.
Many years ago various researchers suggested that Dr. Heinrich's brother,
Hans, had come to Lancaster County, PA and had fathered many of the
Zimmerman/Carpenters who when to North Carolina.
My research indicates that the Lincoln Co., NC Carpenters descended from
Zimmermans from Steffisburg, Canton of Bern, Switzerland. They went to
Alsace, France and then to Pennsylvania. Dr. Heinrich Zimmerman has clear
lineage to Wattenwil, Canton of Bern, Switzerland. The villages are close
but not very close together.
The two families also do not have compatible DNA results. The families
differ quite considerably in DNA and are not therefore related probably
within the last 900 years or so.
I hope this helps with your question.
