Hi, Tina ~
You can download a copy of George R. ZIMMERMAN's death certificate
image from one of the Search Labs (Texas Death ) at FamilySearch.
http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/#start
Click the map for "Canada, USA, and Mexico" then search "Texas
Deaths, 1890-1976".
There are 43 George ZIMMERMAN's in the TX Death Records; so, you can
narrow down your search by entering either his birth year or death year.
The death certificate for George R. ZIMMERMAN (d: 16 May 1971) shows
that he was born in Pennsylvania and that his parents' names were
Harry ZIMMERMAN and Gertrude CART. Parents' birthplaces are not
given. The DC shows George was divorced when he died. The 'Informant'
was Martha ZIMMERMAN (George's ex-wife?). He had lived in El Paso 11 yrs.
To request George's obituary from a Lookup Volunteer, visit this site.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~obitl/voltx.html
The obit might provide you with the names of relatives and where they
lived at the time of George's death.
George's death certificate also gives his Social Security # which you
can use to locate his SSDI listing and request a copy of his SS-5.
There is a link to the sample SS-5 letter included with George's SSDI
listing at the SSDI site.

Adding post-ems to the SSDI site and the TX Death Index site, might
help George's relatives find you. The TX Death Index can be found
FamilySearch (see above) and RootsWeb.

Posting queries on other message boards (Cumberland Co., PA, WWII,
etc.) might also help George's relatives find you.
Finding a marriage record for Harry and Gertrude will help you know
if they lived elsewhere prior to being in Carlisle, PA, thereby
giving you more places to search.
Remember, 'Harry' might be a nickname for Harold.
We had a similar situation with one of our family members and it took
MANY years to find out what happened to the daughter of my mother's
cousin after a divorce and his death in WWII. I now have contact with
her ex-husband and her daughter (whom we didn't know existed)!
Persistence really does pay off! So, hang in there . . . . . no
telling what you might find 'around the next bend'. Good luck with your search!
BTW . . . . . My grandfather and my grandfather's brother,
ZIMMERMAN/CARPENTER Descendants, are also buried in Fort Bliss
National Cemetery. They served in WWI. My ZIMMERMAN/CARPENTER Line
can be found at our CUZNS FAMILY TREE site.
