Hello, Stephanie,
I'm writing you in hopes that maybe you can help me (and I can help you
if we have the same family).
My great grandfather's brother Ira Charles Zimmerman went to Council
Bluffs, IA (from Northumberland County, PA) in the early 1900s, and married a
woman named Mary. They had 3 sons, Walter, Robert and Leonard. He worked
for the railroad. When he died around 1951 (born 1878, died age 73), one
son, Walter, lived in Santa Barbara, CA. The dates are right for one of the
sons (maybe Walter, the first?) to marry your Julia and move to CA. Of
course I don't know, because I have been unable to connect with any of Ira's
descendants (one of whom is Jerry Zimmerman of baseball fame). Ira's father
was Perry Oliver Zimmerman, and their mother's name was Delilah Smick. His
sisters were named Flora Etta and Daisy, and his brother's name was Arthur.
Ira's grandparents were Susan Haas and Isaac Zimmerman. Those are the family
names that may be given, although by this time, people weren't giving family
names as much as they had earlier in time. Does any of this sound like it
may be a connection? Thank you for reading and considering this!
Terri
