DIED--On the 9th ult. in East Hanover, Lebanon county, Pa., in the triumphs of the
Christian Religion, Mr. Moses R Zimmerman, late a member of the Sophomore Class,
Pennsylvania College, aged 23 years, 4 months, and 4 days.
In the death of Mr. Z. the Church has lost one of their most promising members. He was
naturally talented, and very studious. His good disposition and noble traits of character
caused him to be universally beloved, esteemed and respected. He was dear to his fellow
students and instructors. Never will his memory be erased from our minds. We deeply
mourn his departure. The autumnal evening breezes call to remembrance many peasant
hours.---The silent midnight watch still often seems to bring to our ears his fervent
prayer. But he has gone, gone to the Spririt world. It is true, we mourn his death, yet
not as those that hve no hope. Our loss is his gain. He died 'the death of the
righteous.' Not only his last words, but also years of very intimate acquaintance,
leave not a shadow of doubt as to his readiness. 'Be ye therefore also ready.'
This is the only true comfort his mourning parents, brothers, sisters and friends have.
Although this cheering consolation, unmi!
ngled with a doubt, is a balm for our wounded hearts, still our tears will flow over his
hier and water his grave, until the shadows of death will hush these weary bodies to
sleep, and our souls rise on angel's wings to a world of bliss, where the friendship
that was here began shall be renewed, and be lasting as eternity. E. S. H.
