I just spent the weekend at my sister's home NJ (she holds the Maurer antiquities and
antiques--not much room in this NYC apartment) and was leafing through a beautiful old
bakelite/accordion 19. century photo album filled with 19. century photos and tin-types,
and there was a picture of gentleman with the name of Zimmerman with his wife (both names
escape me). While, I'm a Maurer from Loudonville, OH (Ashland Co.), the Mt. Vernon, OH
address caught my eye, being a relatively local address in those days.
My paternal Grandfather was a Maurer and my paternal grand mother was a Caulderhead/Moore
(Both from Ashland Co., OH).
Going further back, My great-grandfather was a Maurer, My great-grandmother, Della, was a
Strang (Streng).
Here, I think that our families converge.
The photos (cryptically annotated by late grandmother--an alzheimer victem) shows a
Zimmerman (the name was written in, but I forget it) with his wife (unidentified in the
photo).
Ashland Co., was a small place back then.
Could it be that we are relatives?
The time frame/locality seems right.
