I was wondering if you by any chance have a Polly Zimmerman who died in 1850
probably in child birth or shortly thereafter?
I have a Polly who married a Peter Makeley and lived in NY, she bore him
three sons, but only one survived, the last one. I have been searching high
and low for a Zimmerman family for her but to no avail, hoping you can help.
It is possible that my Polly had siblings and since Polly seems to be a
knickname for Mary (though only God knows why)I thought perhaps someone out
there might have some information on her line. I have absolutely no idea
where she was from, her parents, siblings, or even her birth date. The only
dates I have are her death date and marriage date. I have the three
children and their dates also.
Polly married Peter on August 4, 1846. Peter's dates are May 18, 1825 to
May 17, 1904. The three children are: George Makeley b. Dec. 31, 1847 d.
Mar. 12, 1848; Jacob Makeley b. May 22, 1849 d. May 31, 1849; Levan
Zimmerman Makeley b. May 17, 1850 d. Mar. 3, 1919. After Polly's death,
Peter remarried (July 18, 1850) a woman named Clarinda Hadsell and had
eleven more children. The first of which may or may not be Peter's, as she
gave birth to Marriette on August 12, 1850!
Levan is the father of my ggrandfather Francis Arlington Makeley who
preceded his father in death by dying of influenza in 1910 just three months
after his daughter, my grandmother, was born.
Peter Makeley is the son of William Makeley b. abt 1800 and Christine Harvey
no dates. Peter had a brother named Zacheriah which I have no info for
either.
Does any of this sound familiar to your family line? If so, please contact
me as I would love to fill in more about Polly. TIA, Vicki
