Mrs. George Clifton Bates
Miss Joyce Elaine Zimmerman, daughter of Mrs. Stanford B. Hodgman of Tacoma, was married
recently to Chief Petty Officer George Clifton Bates, United States Naval Reserves, at a
ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kitching.
For her marriage the bride chose a gown of gardenia white satin, made on princess lines
and fingertip veil caught to a halo of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of orchids,
white carnations and freesias. She was given in marriage by her stepfather, Mr. Hodgman.
Mrs. J.T. Sagora, wearing blue satin and carrying pink carnations was her sister's
matron of honor. Miss Eleanor Klasner, in pink net and carrying roses and freesias was
bridesmaid. Mr. J.D. Bates of Richmond, California, was his brother's best man. The
Rev. L.G. Randal officiated.
Reception assistants were the Mesdames Anna McLean, Arletta Bargar, Walter Kitching, Allan
Haney, Arnold C. Rouse and Miss Lucille Maurer.
The couple is at home in Astoria, Oregon.
