Hi Everyone,
I am trying to find the parents of George W. Zimmerman and the decendants of the early
family that aren't in the Zimmerman tree already. Some of the names in the family are
unusual so I hope this will be of some help.
My 3rd Great Grandfather, George W. Zimmerman (1824-1893)who settle in Eckford, Michigan.
Spent his early life in the New York area. George who was from Pennsilvania, met and
married Charlotte A. (Unknown last name) (1824-1893), in New York area. Charlotte was born
in Connecticut. All of her children were born in New York.
I'm not sure if it was upstate N.Y. or N.Y. City. The family eventually moving to
Michigan, because the land was either cheap or free.
The Childeren were;
Jerome A. Zimmerman 1849-1922 N.Y. Born.
Adelaide A. Zimmerman 1853-1931 N.Y. born.
Kate A. Zimmerman 1850-1924 N.Y. Born.
Kate married John Lyman Harris 1848-1924, they had a daughter Kate also.
All the above are burried in Eckford, Michigan in the East Eckford Cemetary. I have not
been able to find a paper trail that would lead to George's parents, or what his
middle name is. Though I suspect it is George Washington, I don't know this for a
fact.
I have gone through all 1400 of the old message on the Zimmerman family board with no
luck. I also read that Pesident George Washington supposedly spent a couple of nights in
Zimmerman farm house giving rise to a lot of baby boys being named George Washington
Zimmerman. That a nice thing but also confusing when trying to get past the the wall that
we eventually hit when doing ancestry work.
So any leads would be greatly appreciated.
