Thank you for sharing this information. I'm assuming that this date if forJohn F. Zimmerman Sr., son of Frederick and Polly. I recently found a burial record for what I believe is the younger one, son of John F. and Lucy Finnell, born about 1831.
I found a Civil War service record for him which states that after the battle of Richmond, he was missing. There is a headstone in Bellevue Cemetery, in Danville, which states that he died on 26 Apr 1862. He is buried near Ophelia Mars Zimmerman, his wife, and William M. Zimmerman, their son.
I still have no definite birthplace for Frederick John. B John F, Thomas J and James Notley list their father's birthplace as PA on the 1880 census. I believe that they are the only children that were still living by 1880. I also have, as I think I might have mentioned previously, information taken from a letter written by one of James N's grandaughters which stated that James' father was born in Lancaster County, PA.
That at least gives us a starting place.

I have found the death date of John F. Zimmerman. He died in Danville, Kentucky on October 13, 1885. There are death notices in several papers on the Kentucky Virtual Library Newspaper section. The date is more important than the name. The search engine does not pick up all of the names.

I am interested in Frederick John Zimmerman. We are descended from his son, John F. who was a well-known printer and newspaper person in Kentucky.
I am particularly interested in palce of birth of Frederick John.
There is reference to Frederick John in Heritage Quest on the history of Georgetown.
