Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Not mine, mine are Jacob and Mary (Bolin) Zimmerman and their daughter Caroline
(my Great Grandmother) moved via Toledo Ohio, but they could still be
relatives.

I am a newbie, know how you all love that. I have read messages for
months but never replied.
Anyway, I am looking for a Franz and Anna (Frandsen-Zimmerman from
Nebraska and Iowa. I don't have a time line but I know they were in Iowa
in early 20's. My father, their son Weldon D Zimmerman was born in
Algona, Iowa. I have a lot of info on them and the family but do not
know how this would fit in with your Zimmermans. I was born in 1946 and
my father did not marry my mother, Audrey Annesley. who lived in
Goldsby, Ok at time. Weldon was in the service for a while and then was
kicked out. I know only that he married my mother's best friend and I
have a 1/2 sister somewhere out there. The last info I had was she was
living in Washington state. Weldon's uncle was Gilbert Zimmerman and he
and his wife ran and owned, I think, Zimmerman Press in Nebraska.
Maybe there is a connection, hope so. It would be nice to finally find
some of my family as well. Maybe it will at least help you.

Hi,
I noticed you are looking for Zimmermann's in Nebraska. Do you
know the parent's names or where about in NE they came from? I have a
family of Zimmermann's that moved from Wisconsin to Nebraska between 1878
and 1899. This is what I know of the family. Philipp Zimmermann married
Magdalena Kleinhans and had 3 known children before moving to NE. The
children's names are: Anna Maria, Franz and Anna Margaritha Zimmermann.
If any of this rings a bell, I would love to exchange information
with you,
Debie Blindauer

I'm trying to find info on my Great Great Grandmother, Mary Barbra Zimmerman. She was born in Germany in 1849 and married William A. Kellenberger in 1871. They settled in Adams or York County, PA. They had 8 children. If you know anything about her, please contact me at mblack2412(a)aol.com. I'm trying to find the ship she came in on and when it sailed. Thank you!
Census Taker
It was the first day of census, and all through the land;
The pollster was ready ... a black book in hand.
He mounted his horse for a long dusty ride;
His book and some quills were tucked close by his side.
A long winding ride down a road barely there;
Toward the smell of fresh bread wafting up through the air.
The woman was tired, with lines on her face;
And wisps of brown hair she tucked back into place.
She gave him some water ... as they sat at the table;
And she answered his questions ... the best she was able.
He asked of her children ... Yes, she had quite a few;
The oldest was twenty, the youngest not two.
She held up a toddler with cheeks round and red;
his sister, she whispered, was napping in bed.
She noted each person who lived there with pride;
And she felt the faint stirrings of the wee one inside.
He noted the sex, the color, the age ...
The marks from the quill soon filled up the page.
At the number of children, she nodded her head;
And saw her lips quiver for the three that were dead.
The places of birth she "never forgot";
Was it Kansas? or Utah? or Oregon ... or not?
They came from Scotland, of that she was clear;
But she wasn't quite sure just how long they'd been here.
They spoke of employment, of schooling and such;
They could read some and write some ... though really not much.
When the questions were answered, his job there was done;
So he mounted his horse and he rode toward the sun.
We can imagine his voice loud and clear;
"May God Bless you all for another ten years."
Now picture a time warp ... it's now you and me;
As we search for the people on our family tree.
We squint at the census and scroll down so slow;
As we search for that entry from long, long ago.
Could they only imagine on that long ago day;
That the entries they made would effect us this way?
If they knew, would they wonder at the yearning we feel;
And the searching that makes them so increasingly real.
We can hear if we listen the words they impart;
Through their blood in our veins and their voice in our heart.

Linda,
I am the ggrandson of William Alto Zimmerman. Last week I talked to Lois "Ester" Zimmerman Cawood who was William's daughter. She said that William Alto was an orphan and had no idea as to who his parents were. Looks like a dead end. Please let me know if you find anything more.
I am assuming that you are the daughter of Charles and Peggy?? If so, we met a couple of times many years ago. I am the son of Beverly who was the daughter of Bernice Kenworthy who was the daughter of William Alto Zimmerman. Clear as mud?
