PLATTSBURGH — Rupert James "Big Jim" Zielinski, 73, of Route 22, died Sunday,
Sept. 24, 2000 at his home.
He was born in AuSable Forks on June 12, 1927 the son of Edward J. and Mabel (Miner)
Zielinski.
Mr. Zielinski married the former Marilyn Moomey in Alburg, Vt., in 1955.
He was a mechanic for Red Star Express in Plattsburgh for 30 years, retiring in 1988.
Mr. Zielinski was also an avid flea marketer.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn; three sons, Russell Zielinski and his wife Melissa,
John Zielinski and his wife Heidi, both of Plattsburgh and William Zielinski and his wife
Mary Lou of Millidgeville, Ga.; six daughters, Kim Mullan and her husband Richard of
Weston, Fla., Jamie Zielinski of Plattsburgh, Patricia Rock and her husband Mark of Peru,
Martha Bova and her husband Michael of Keeseville, Karleen Thompson of Colorado Springs,
Colo., and Donna Franconere and her husband Vincent of Albany, N.Y.; one brother, Edward
Zielinski, Sr. and his wife Ruth of AuSable Forks; two sisters, June Douglas and her
husband Robert of Edgewater, Fla., and Gail LaDuke of Plattsburgh; twenty-three
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral
Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be at God’s Acre Cemetery in Peru.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
