This is so cool! I meet cousins all the time but not those who have
played with my husband when he was a little kid.
Jim, I and our then small children would visit with your folks every
time we visited with Jim's parents in Midland while we lived in
Illinois. I re-call I believe the story as to why your folks moved
something about a flood. Jim and I would sometimes take alternate
routes back to I-90 and such and once [or more then once] we took a
road and Jim would tell me that was "where Aunt Essie and Uncle Charley
use to live on this road" --- we just loved visiting the area. Being
from Florida and my family still living in southwest Florida - love the
stories of how we would make sure we would take a jacket to the Forth
of July Fireworks.
But how are your doing with your research. I may be able to share
with you some items that I have collected over the years on the
Zielinski side. Sandy, my daughter, and I finally found the tombstone
of Valentine Zielinski at St. Stans cemetery.
Your Uncle Jim is doing very well. There are so many other folks who
have a similar geographic history that they have a common link and this
has help with the sense of belonging and friendship and community that
he now enjoys. We don't hear from him as much now as we once did
either - I guess he is busy and that's good.
BTW: I also heard from your cousin Roy just prior to his father's
passing. But have not heard from him since -
Sounds like it's time for a REUNION for the cousins.
Take care,
Pattie

Pattie,
Yes, I am 1st cousin to Jim; Esther and "C.W.'s" youngest son and
4th of 5 siblings in the Batcke clan. If I hear anything I'll let you
know. Hope your father-in-law is doing well, we used to hear a lot
when Lee was alive, very little since. I drive truck over the road,
part time now, and have been through MD some, very beautiful scenery,
don't blame Uncle Jim one bit for wanting to return to that area.
Sincerely,
Pete Batcke
