Karen --
I was interested to see your post, in that your ZIEGLERS, like ours, come
originally from the Wuerttemberg region of Germany. However, I did not see
any names I recognized among those you listed in your e-mail. Our Zieglers
came from Wuerrtemberg to Minnesota and then to Oregon. None in New York or
Pennsylvania that we know of.
Our (actually, my wife's) ancestor in Wuerttemberg is Georg Jakob ZIEGLER,
born in Weiden, Wuerrtemberg, Germany on October 3, 1848. Georg married Ana
Maria WEINMANN (b. 1854 d 1933) on September 24, 1876 in Weiden. This union
produced 13 ZIEGLER children. The first three were born in Germany, the next
three in Barber, Faribault County, Minnesota, and the final seven (including
my wife's maternal grandmother Emma Louise Ziegler CONE) in West Chelahem,
Yamhill County, Oregon.
Georg ZIEGLER's father was also named Georg ZIEGLER, born in 1822 in Weiden,
Germany. Georg the elder was the child of Christian ZIEGLER (b. 1788 in
Weiden, died 1839), who was the son of Johann Georg ZIEGLER (1751-1824), who
was the son of Christian ZIEGLER of Weiden, birthdate unknown. All from
Weiden in Wuerttemberg, Germany. I have spouses names too if you are
interested, but not much in the way of siblings.
If you see any common names or places, I'd be interested to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Richard Mathews
