Hello Ziegler Researcher's,
I had written an email to Ronald Ziegler and I thought I would share it with
all of you, incase there could be a possible connection for somone.

Season's Greetings from this Ziegler family to yours
Thanks for the e mail. We have conflicting reports as to just where our family
came from in Germany. One story has it that Antoine Ziegler came to
southeastern Michigan via the Erie Canal about twentyfive years before the
Civil War, settling in Monroe County to farm there. He would be my great,
great grandfather. My grandfather, Anthony Ziegler, sold that farm during the
1920's. We are not sure where he came from in Germany or just when. We have
heard that he came from around east of Strasburg, but it is also said that his
parents came from Philadelphia where they had lived since before the
Revolution. Other ancestors -- Fuhrmans, Browns, Smiths(?), Knox, etc -- may
have come more recently from Europe. When he was in the Army, my cousin
visited a 'cousin' then living in the Beethoven house in Strasburg, according
to him.
I have also learned that the Ziegler name is a very special one. It means, of
course,
bricklayer, but that also means 'mason.' That opens all kinds of
possibilities, but the symbolic character of the name Ziegler or mason,
represented by the compass and square, dates back to Alexander and Akhenaton,
who took it to mean the special connotation they prided themselves in of being
'city-builders.' There was a migration of Greek Christians to the area between
and around Lyon-Geneva-Strasburg, apparently coming up the Rhone River very
early in the Christian era, about 1600 years ago, from which this line came.
Of course, one hears many stories, but it is an interesting one.
I would look forward to hearing from you, and finding out some of what you may
have uncovered. In the meantime, I will talk to some of my relations and see
what else I might be able to come up with which might be of interest. By the
way, exactly where is it that you are located?
Thanks again for the message, and best wishes for a prosperous New Year.

I was wondering would you mine if I showed your email letter to other
Ziegler researchers? I'm a member of the "Ziegler" email list and maybe
someone else on this list would have a connection with your ziegler's.
I would be gratified if you showed
my e mail to others,
and would be happy to hear from anyone who might have some knowledge of
connections. By the way, again, where are you located in this great land of
ours?
Thanks, and best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year. Live long and
prosper!
