From the Shtetlseeker gazetteer....I found one place called KOHLER in
Germany...
http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm
KOHLER Lat/longitudes : 4951 1010
231.2 miles SW of Berlin
This is about 10 miles east/north/east of the large city of WURZBURG.
This was not in the Baden Province area....
WURZBURG does appear on this map of Northern Bavaria
http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/~feefhs/maps/gerw/gw-nbav.html
....(it appears to be in the area called "Lower Franconia and
Aschaffenburg"
NOTE: You can see a big letter "N", about 1 inch SW of WURZBURG. This
is the "N" in the adjoining map of BADE"N".....
So to answer the question, KOHLER was "near" BADEN, but not in BADEN
province, at least in 1882.
See also the Federation of East European Family History Societies' map
room index for old (1882) maps of East European areas...

Hi:
Could Kohler Germany or Kohler Russia have been near Badan?
