Hi Bob --
Saturday I mailed out to you the chart on my line of Zieglers from
Wuerrtemberg. I still don't know exactly where Weiden is, but one of
my documents indicates that it is a small town near a larger town
named Sulz. Perhaps that will help. (I haven't even found Sulz
because I don't own a good map of Germany).
I'm not sure that my line links up with yours, but I hope you find
the material I'm mailing to be of some interest.
Sincerely, Richard Mathews

Hi Richard,
I received your family chart for Geor Jacob Ziegler (1848 Weiden,
Germany - 1932 Hillsboro, OR). Dolly did a good job and a lot of work.
I do not see where we could make a connection between your and our
Zieglers. With ours the whole family came over here in 1753 from
Grandpa on down to a 6 months old baby. We have no idea if any
relations remained. I am interested in learning all I can about
Wurttemberg, its people, its history, etc., etc.
We have located a detailed map that shows Sohnstetten in Wurttemberg.
First, let's correct its location to: 61 KM east south east of
Stuttgart or 12 KM west of Heidenheim on road way 466. I will airmail a
8 1/2 x 11 copy of that area of the map. When it gets there look 12 KM
south of Sohnstetten and you will find a smaller village named
Weidenstetten. I wonder, could this be your Weiden that we can't find
on any map. I notice the name of 15 or 20 villages in the area end in
stetten: Scharenstetten, Westerstetten, Breimerstetten, Neenstetten,
Mergeistetten and Stetten ob Lontel (on the Lone River). Stetten is not
in my German - English dictionary. I will send a copy of this to Thomas
Kemmer who may help us on this. He has a Swabian into English web site.
A surprise for me was another village 5 KM or so south on Weidenstetten
named Breitingen. It appears to contain the surname Breitling. Oliver
Breitling from east of Cologne, Germany has just sent the list a query
on this name What a coincidence? I may be reading the map wrong. It
is not to clear.
