Cousins,
This is humorous, but a touch ironic, as well. I just received the
following message:
Date: Thu, 23 Dec 1999 18:29:44 -0800
From: 3861A0F5.EF57AF4D(a)fortwayne.infi.net
To: jshuman(a)telis.org
Subject: Re: [ZIEGLER] Need for Caution
MIME-Version: 1.0

Hypercool Happy New Year 2000 funny programs and animations...
We attached our recent animation from this site in our mail ! Check it out
!

It appears that someone (at least one) on the List DOES have an infected
computer, which automatically sent out the above message. I'm guessing that
the "From" line is a forgery; "fortwayne.infi.net" exists, but
probably not
with a subscriber named "3861A0F5.EF57AF4D".
And, of course, the Subject line is the one i used just a couple of days ago!
One sure way to know it DIDN'T come through the List is because there was
no tagline at the end of the message, as there will be with this one.
So... PLEASE...
We need EVERY subscriber to check their own computers for any files that
end in ".exe" and delete them! Second, once you've identified your computer
as being infected, you'll need to use some virus clean-up software such as
Norton Anti-Virus.
Regards!
JS
