I sent the following info to this list last Sunday, and I have yet to receive
one reply to offer a suggestion of help. :-( Maybe it did not come through?
Please, even if you don't recognize the names, I am stumped as where to look
for parentage of this ancestor, and I am sure someone on this list has had
this dilemna before, and received help from a fellow researcher. I am rather
new to research, so any advice is appreciated. So, please read the following
again, and let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you again.

There has been so much activity on this list lately, I thought I would throw
mine out there again and see if anyone can help or offer a suggestion or two.
It is a tough one, and quite the challenge. Here goes.
According to spelling of name in Joplin, MO obit:
HEELAN ZEIGLER, b. 1849 d. 13 Sep 1918
Tombstone spelling: HEELAN ZIEGLER
Marriage Certificate: HENRY ZEIGLER, age 26, m. M.J. JACKSON 9 Sep 1877 (MO)
1880 MO Census: HELAND ZIGLAR, age 30, b. PA
1900 MO Census: HULAN ZEIGLER, age 50, b. OH, mother & father b. PA
Childrens obits spelled EI and IE.
See what I mean? I can't find HEELAN ZEIGLER before 1880 as head of
household, and to begin census searching on
ZEIGLER/ZIEGLER/ZIGLAR/SIGLAR/etc, etc. in PA and OHIO in 1850, 1860, and
1870....well, have you seen all of them??? So,
Dear List,
Has anyone, in their research, come across this man in PA, OHIO, MO, KS, or
anywhere in between? He left no will, only mentions children in obit, no
death certificate I can find, no clue as to parentage. With a name like
HEELAN, he could be listed as a female. In fact, Tombstone Inscriptions of
Jasper Co., MO has him listed as "wife of Isadore", when the actual tombstone
in fact says "Father".
Any suggestions of how or where I can continue my research would be
appreciated. Thank you. :-)
