Bob,
I also believe that the families from PA and SC may have come from the same
area in the old country. My mother was a Zeigler from PA. While doing
research for my father-in-law's family from Orangeburg, SC, the Hartzogs, I
noticed the same German/Swiss surnames in both localities.

Hi Brad,
Your southern friend from Orangeburg, SC, Bob. When ever I see
information on the original homeland of any of the Zeiglers like in
your email, a light or bell goes on. As we said before our two
Zeigler line are not closly related in this country but there is little
doubt their origin is the same. The information on your Michael
says his family origin was Switzerland but came to America in
1717 from Germany. Our Michael came to America from
Wurttemberg, Germany in 1753 and we have been unable to find
this family line's origin.
Brad if the books "Ziegler-Zeigler Ancestors", by Patricia Landis or
"Mennonite Encyclopedia" Vol. 4, p. 1026 ---ZIEGLER have any
informaation on the origin of this Zeigler family or mine I would be
glad to pay copying and mailing cost for the pertinent parts.. I
would assume I could purchase the smaller book if the supplier's
address is known.
The Mennonite bit is news to me. I should have known my wife
was a Mennonite. She is such a good cook.
Please let me hear from you and best regards,
