Can you tell me what the Palatine Emigration was?
I have seen that on a Ships passenger list.
Thank you

Debbie-
I have a copy of this book that I purchased in 1981 from Patricia Landis
for $6.50. Her address at that time was Box 65 Corkscrew Rd., Estero FL
33928. Don't know if she is still alive or if this address is still
current.
The book is 36 pages in length and contains no photos. It contains a
multitude of references (histories, census, biographies, some short
genealogies, war information, etc) to anyone named Ziegler or Zeigler or
variations. I can look up things for you. I assume you are interested in
immigrant brothers, Michael and Melchior.
The book has several references to immigrant Michael Ziegler:
1) "Mennonite Encyclopedia" Vol. 4, p. 1026 ---ZIEGLER, a Mennonite
family of Swiss origin......Immigrant Michael Ziegler (c1680-c1765) was
born in Germany, migrated to America before 1717, settling in Perkiomen
Township, now Montgomery County, PA., and was affiliated as a minister
with the Skippack congregation. He was one of the subscribers to the
Dordrecht Confession of Faith in 1725....[followed by information about
his son Andrew]
MY NOTE: Michael is believed to have been born 1684. He did die in 1765.
2) "Early Eighteenth Century Palatine Emigration", p. 247 ---Michael
Ziegler embarked with the first party of Palatines, (5-3-1709)
3) "The Compendium of Amercian Genealogy" Vol. 3, p. 625 ---Michael
Ziegler (b. in Germany 1680, d. 1765 in Pa.) married Catherine ---, and
they had Andrew (1707-1797) who married Elizabeth Kolb and they had
Michael who married Miss Clemens (daughter of Jacob, granddaughter of
Gerhardt) MY NOTE: Some of these dates are questionable. Michael is
believed to have been born 1684 and Andrew born in 1711.
There are two references to Melchior Ziegler of Northampton/Lehigh County,
PA:
1) Tax Lists from the "PA Archives", Northampton County, PA,
Macungie Tp.
---1772 Melchor (sic) Ziegler, farmer
MY NOTE: Probably immigrant Melchior, but could perhaps be a son of his
by the same name.
2) "Naturalizations of Foreign Protestants in the American Colonies" at
the Philadelphia County Courthouse, p. 123, ---Melchior Ziegler of
Macungie Tp. Northampton County, PA (10-9-1765).
MY NOTE: Probably immigrant Melchior.
Blessings,
Brad Ziegler
