Hi,
First I qould like to apologize for sending a subscribe message to the
wrong e-mail address (I noticed as soon as it was sent, of course). Now
for my question. I have Zeiglers in Ohio that I believe are of Swiss
descent. Samuel Zeigler (b c 1760-1770), his wife and 4 oldest children
(Samuel, b c 1790-1800, Nicholas, b 1798-1800, Benjamin, b 19 Jan 1802
and Jacob, b c 1802) came to this country when Benjamin was about 3.
These may be the same Zieglers that came over on board the Liberty
in October 1805:
PASSENGERS OVER CHILDREN UNDER THEIR NATIVE UNDER WHICH
14 YEARS OF AGE 14 YEARS PLACES GOVERNMENT
Mr. Ziegler 4 Unterranseen Swiss
Mrs. Ziegler Unterranseen Swiss
Now, I need to try to find them on the other side of the Atlantic. This
proves a problem as I can't figure out where Unterranseen is. Any
ideas? One thought was that Unterranseen might be Unteramsern,
Solothurn, Switz however the second oldest son managed to live until
at least the 1880 census, and he lists his parents as being born in
Bern. This is my first foray into looking people up abroad. Any
suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
--
