Hi Jack in PA, Hi again to send copies to the LIST.
Your "Rebel buddy," Bob Hemphill, in Orangeburg, SC. You show that you go back
to Hans George Ziegler. The first question is which one?
We go back to Fritz Zeigler who was shown as arriving in Charleston, SC, in Feb, 1753.
The SC Royal Council gave him a land grant in Mar, 1753. That's all we have on him,
solid that is. Now the German genealogist says that Fritz is not a German name that it
must be something the Royal Council tagged on him. One of the possibilities the
genealogist came up with was that Fritz and or his father was named Hans George Ziegler.
How interesting?
In searching for my Fritz in his towns of Göppingën and Schwäbisch Gmünd on the Rootsweb
Baden Wurttemberg Web Site I found a Per Naucler with what appears to be four Hans George
Zieglers lined up, I, II, III and IV (maybe V).
Your Hans Michol Ziegler married Dorothea Dester on 4 May 1700. Let us guess that his
father, Phillip Gall Ziegler was born in say 1675, his grandfather, Hans George Ziegler
was born in say 1650. We may be a generation off to tie him to Per Naucler's Hans
Ziegler, III or IV. Oh by the way this man's name was not Hans Ziegler. It was
Johannes Naunlerus and he changed it to the alias, Hans Ziegler. From what little I know,
he probably changed it when he became Dean of Göppingën. When? Folks keep telling me,
"Bob, you are going to keep digging up things until you dig up
something you will wish you left buried." I don't think so. I would never bury
a dean of a college no matter what his name was. See below for Per's query.
Jack and Per and those on the LISTS, any information you have and will share with me that
will shed alittle light on this will be appreciated.
Best regards, Bob H. ___
