Christina,
First, I have to correct myself in two area's. Clara Guritz, as a cousin, is the one
living with William Ziegler, as a brother-in-law, in the household of William Guritz and
Marie "catherine" (Ziegler) Guritz in the 1900 census. Rosa Dravis is living
with Cutler Robinson and "Mary" Jane (Ziegler) Robinson as their niece.
Realise : Elizabeth "Lizzie" Ziegler married Theodore Dravis. Theodore'
Dravis' sister, Emma Dravis, married August Guritz. August Guritz' cousin, William
Guritz, married Marie "Chatherine" Ziegler. "Mary" Jane Ziegler
married Cutler Robinson. And of course, Henry Ziegler married the first wife to whose name
we do not know.
All of the Ziegler's that I mentioned above are siblings. The Dravis and Guritz
surnames should be important in your research just as they were important in mine.
The Ziegler siblings that make this crazy web of relationships:

You have two different Rosa daughters that we are dealing with, and they are two different
people - Rosa Dravis and Rosa Ziegler. They both have Ziegler blood and would be cousins
to each other. As far as I can tell, no names changed, and the two siblings that you are
concerned about (Rosa Ziegler and Ruben Ziegler) remained with their father after his new
marriage to Bertha Haupt. They were never adopted or given away.
Henry Ziegler and Bertha (Haupt) Ziegler (his second wife) were living in Idaho in the
1900 census with his three new children of the second wife and his two children, Ruben
Ziegler and Rosa Ziegler, from the first wife. It also shows that his new wife Bertha only
had 3 childbirths and 3 living children. This is true.
From this 1900 census in Idaho, you can deduce that his first unkown wife died some time
between 1889 and 1895 - maybe in childbirth with Ruben. I have determined this because
their was no wife listed in the 1895 census, but with his new wife Bertha, he had a child
in December of 1895. I would be led to assume that he married Bertha Haupt sometime in
1895 after the census was taken.
Now this is my part of the story that ties in with many of your Ziegler relatives:
When Theodore Dravis died in 1895 after the census was taken, Elizabeth "Lizzie"
(Ziegler) Dravis moved back in with her widowed mother between 1895 and 1900, Sophie
(Eberhardt) Ziegler. In the household where two of Sophia's unwed children, Minnie
Ziegler and Otto Ziegler, but Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Ziegler) Dravis only kept two
of her children with her - Martha Dravis and William Dravis.
1900 - Rosa Dravis, one of the Theodore Dravis and Elizabeth (Ziegler) Dravis, was living
with Cutler Robinson and his wife Mary Jane (Ziegler) Robinson as their niece. This is
true.
1900 - Amelia Dravis, the oldest of Elizabeth (Ziegler) Dravis and Theodore Dravis'
children, was living with Robert & Jane Meyer as their servant. Obviously, these two
people are of no relation to her.
1900 - I found Clara Guritz, one of August Guritz and Emma (Dravis) Guritz' daughters,
living with William Guritz and Cathering (Ziegler) Guritz as a cousin. Interstingly,
William Ziegler was living with them too as William Guritz' brother-in-law! He, being
William Guritz' brother-in-law, makes him the brother of Marie "Catherine"
(Ziegler) Guritz. This is true.
Ruben Ziegler is in the 1930 census in Yakima County, Washington with his wife Bessie. The
census shows that he was born in Iowa, which he was, but that the birthplace of his father
and mother are unkown.
