Our Ziegler came directly from Brettheim, Germany, to NY in 1920's. I don't have
his church info nor any other family info besides him....the children have no info.....
but we know for sure that he was Lutheran. In fact he and his wife-to-be came to America
because she was Catholic, and their families forbid them from marrying outside the
religion.

I don't know for sure what the Weiler Church was in Weiler am
Steinberg, Sinsheim, Baden, Germany but I suspect it was Lutheran. After
the family came to America research has them in 1776 at St. Paul
Lutheran and Reform Church, York Co. PA also know as Ziegler Church.
Later records show them at Bender Lutheran Church, Adams Co. PA ca.
1796-1800.

Because of the name, I often wondered if I would discover Jewish roots as
well, although when I finally found a marriage record from Ontario, Canada,
in 1871, both my Zieglers, Harmon and Charles, were listed as Episcopal.
Harmon Ziegler's bride, Irene Davis, was Catholic, and Charles Ziegler's
bride, Rebecca Mansur, was also Episcopal.
