Please forgive, I seem to be having computer problems. I sent this message
yesterday, and by default I should have received a copy of my own message,
which I did not, so I don't think it came across to the list. Therefore, I
shall try to resend. Please excuse if it duplicates. Thank you.

Hello Ellen (and list)
Saw your post on the Ziegler list and wanted to respond. My husband's
Ziegler line was in Jasper County (county seat being Carthage, as you know)
late 1800's early 1900's. His Grandmother was Lillian Anna ZIEGLER Solomon,
her father was Hulan/Heelen ZIEGLER (depending on which census year you're
looking at). Heelen Ziegler is my brick wall. I do not know a father for
him to continue my research. Census shows he was born 1850 in PA or OH,
parents from PA. He lived in Georgia City, MO, Oronogo, MO, and Opolis, KS
(barely across MO state line). He is buried in Waco Cemetery in Jasper Co.,
MO. I have found marriage records for him in Carthage, but he is elusive
during most census years. Can't find him on earlier census records in PA or
OH. Don't know of siblings. Don't know if he came to Jasper Co as a child
with family or alone as an adult. Too young for Civil War service. Census
shows him as a farmer, unsure if he ever worked mines.
I am in Joplin often, as my father in law lives there. I go to Carthage on
occasion to do research when I can. I see other Ziegler's in the area, but
can't find the connection. If you ever run across this unusual name in your
research, will you please keep me in mind? I will copy this to the list, as
well, as I haven't posted anything in awhile.
Thanks so much,
Kirsten
