REPLY TO JOHN KIEFFER:
Your Mary Ann could POSSIBLY be a daughter of the John and Catharine
buried in the cemetery.
Thanks for responding! Actually, this has also been my "theory". However, I
am
hoping to find some sort of "proof".
Are their any church or township records which might provide additional clues?

ZIEGLER'S CHURCH (Lutheran & Reformed)
Mifflin Township,
Cumberland County, PA.
(10 miles west of Carlisle)
"Ziegler's Lutheran Church in Mifflin Township was organized in 1790
and
situated on property donated for that purpose by Jacob Zeigler. This was
a union church, with Lutheran and Reformed sharing the premises and the
graveyard....Lutheran custom requires that all names be recorded in books
showing all these events [communion, baptism, & marriage] , including the
name of all who take communion on a given date.
By 1832 the Reformed section of the congregation had disintegrated in
dissension, and the Lutherans had organized in the nearby town of
Newville and incorporated under the name of Zion Lutheran Church. This
new church, drawing on a larger population, absorbed the Mifflin
membership and the old records are now found with the Zion Church in Newville.
Meanwhile the old church building at Council Bluff was abandoned and
eventually sold. Amazingly, this building, described as two stories high
and made of log, was removed approximately three miles in the 1840's to
serve a congregation of the Evangelical Association until it later burned
down."1
IN THE CHURCH GRAVEYARD:
ZEIGLER, John (June 1787-29 April 1863)
ZEIGLER, Catharine (March 1787-14 October 1856)
NOTE: These are the only Zeiglers buried there.
