Note: Ohio (not Ohio Counties) Birth Records began Dec 20, 1908. For earlier
dates - check with the specific county library and inquire what they may
have. Often they have birth indexes on film and you can get a copy of the
county birth certificate from the county records. The library of the county
in question should be able to give you all addresses & phone numbers to
follow up your search.

Here is someone searching a Ziegler family in Washington County. There is a
direct link to her e-mail from the Queries section.

Hello Debbie,
Many thanks. I received another line of Zieglers from the Cumberland Co.
Historical Society -- if I can, I would like to send you a copy (also with
some overlaps to your list). Unfortunately I still don't see where my
Thomas fits in.
There was no official marriage record -- there is an affidavit in the
Pension File saying that in 1866 no such records were kept (which doesn't
mean that maybe if I find the church in Claysville or Independence,
Washington Co., the Rev. Brownlee officiating, there might be records...)
Thomas Jefferson Ziegler died in 1903 in Ohio before official death
certificates were issued. This is why I am hoping to find either his
brother or sister who survived him in the faint hope that the parents'
names
would be on their death certificates.
Thanks again.
Jeff
