Need to post long-term query?

or choose from many other options at
http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/z/i/ZIEGLER/
-----------------
It's easy to tell. If they include a "tagline" similar to the one above,
beginning with the "==== ZIEGLER Mailing List ====" then you can be sure
they are to the entire List.
Also, if the Header (at the top of your message) contains "To:
ZIEGLER-L(a)rootsweb.com" and/or "[ZIEGLER]" inserted into the start of the
Subject Line, then it is a message to the List.
If these things are missing, then it is a private message.
It is possible to include the "[ZIEGLER]" as part of the Subject Line of a
private message, although it doesn't happen very often, and it is possible
to send a private message which quotes the entire message from the List,
including the taglines, but it is quite difficult to insert "To:
ZIEGLER-L(a)rootsweb.com" in the header of a private message.
Finally, this List is set so that "Reply To:" automatically goes back to
the List unless the individual who sent the original message has his/her
e-mail set for autoreply. That means that simply clicking on "Reply"
*almost always* sends a message back to the list.
Hope this helps clarify things.
